aslm wrwb,

Did I tell you that I spent two weeks straight, just trying to put a calendar as portlet in the Sun Java Portal Server? Well, it seemed that the product was somehow went wrong by itself, I always had this idea that I can’t do anything about it, it’s broken from the beginning. I kept complaining that this is too hard. But deep inside I knew that it was only my dissapointment that I haven’t been given a laptop yet. So I guess, my mood kinda screw up with my performance… whose fault?

Just an hour ago, I was once again gone mad when I can’t find any available sunray to use, every desk with it is being used or somebody else sat there but using a laptop. It’s so riddiculous, if they had a laptop why must they sit on desks with sunray, while there are desks with no sunrays, which was presumably was provided for those who don’t use sunrays. Anyway, I went to the datacenter and do my job directly thru the server console, but I can’t stand there long enough, it’s freezing with two AC runs wild on 16 celcius degree.

I went back to the office space, and spotted an available sunray. So I just logged in and start reading the portal documentation. And guess what, after a careful reading, I managed to get the portlet displayed on the portal voila, so all this time, it’s just because my lack of attention or what? Well, to defend myself, the server machine was being accessed simultaneously by several people with disjoint purposes, so sometimes the services got restarted by somebody else, or even crashed, and we actually scratched the machines several times, those really wastes time, and decreasing job efficiency :p

Back to the topic, I can’t deny that somehow I have my share of blame. It’s just that I found many terms that I’m not familiar with, and I am kinda sloppy when it comes to reading lotsa lines :p I hope I can be better, or… just stay stupid…

This is a high loaded day at work! Just now, not work-related, I played 7 consecutive pingpong games, most of them involving Bang Togar with it’s psy-war strategy, Adri with his slow-but-deadly moves, Pak Dar with the spinning balls, and my great Boss Herry with his fast smashes, and of course with my good ol team mate ekobs :) It means sweat and fast decreasing of glucose :p

Anyway, today there’s a lot of new things for me at work. Rival stopped by earlier and asked me several stuffs about my recent work, and about my challenge to get SCJP in just one month. Damn, when I took that challenge I didn’t know that there’s this new SCJP for Java 5! Now, I really have to study hard to learn the new tiger’s features :( He also asked me about Java Studio Creator, and I said I haven’t touched that thing, since I only have sunray access, which is really unsufficient. It’s only good for browsing, but not includes downloads. Good thing is, Rival said my laptop is in procedural process, and it’ll have 1 Gigs of RAM. But he didn’t say how much longer, I wish not like when I was in EC2, it took several months till I got a laptop, and then I only had two weeks to use it before having to return it back, of course because I left EC2 and joined Sun :p

Now, with my specific job as a member of Professional Services team, Herry sent me several PDF docs today: a timesheet templates (dooh), a job specification documents (not just 1-2 pages), and personal objectives for 2005 (only three but loaded, I say). This will be hanging on my mind all weekend :( not to mention some drawbacks in the portal installations… Ekobs even having thoughts of scratching that slow-old-machine again… means another day of reinstalling Solaris and the whole JES family :(

I was supposed to meet with BAM this weekend while his visit to Jakarta, but since I’m not able to go online with YM these last two weekes, I don’t know about this, don’t have his number, and he doesn’t have mine, so… let’s just wait. And I’ll have to go to Cipinang tomorrow to bring some stuff my brother asked to send with my sister. Ah, so hungry from that games, I think I’m gonna go home and eat, stop thinking for several hours :p

Aslm wrwb,

I was confused when I checked my bank account yesterday. The nominal is not exactly what I expected. I should be receiving a pro-rated salary for May from my employers, and since I started on May 16, I assumed I’d be getting half of a full month sallary. But it was slightly more than half. I was going to sent an email to my employer confirming about the amount, but I decided to wait a few days. And just now, my decision proved to be right, a letter came in from my employer stating the exact numbers they transfered to my account.

And the pleasing fact is, that the pph21 tax I should pay is not as much as I thought it’d be. Hahahaha Yippie I thought it was going to be around 10% of my total sallary, but Alhamdulillah, it’s just about half than what I thought. It means more money, yeah!! Hihihi, it’s not that I’m crazy about money, but I’m kinda greedy >:) Besides, I’m still lacking on my down payment on the house, damn, it’s really squeezing my bank account :(

Starbucks anybody? :p

Aslm wrwb,

Founded: JBoss Application Server was first released in 1999. JBoss Group was founded in 2001 in order to provide expert technical support services. JBoss Group was incorporated in 2004 as JBoss Inc.

Ownership: Employee owned and venture backed by Matrix Partners, Accel Partners, and Intel.

This is quite interesting,... I just found out that JBoss was incorporated in 2004, not in 1999 or 2001. That explains why I was confused with JBoss.com or JBoss.org lately. Another interesting fact is that it is employee owned… I am so agree with this company, besides, it is proven to be small in size but big in business, and now reported as leader in Gratner’s magic quadrant. Great job guys!

I found a site providing learning materials or study guide for Java certification, it’s great cause it has materials for the newest SCJP (for Java 5), and its available freely. Check it out!

aslm wrwb,

I’ve been spending the early days of my new job, trying to install a software! It’s so amazing that the development team actually has to decompile installer classes cause they made some misterious behaviour. There’s been a lot of installation script hacking, switching between Linux and Solaris, and still no sign of success. What really sucks is that their support is crap. They only reply mails that doesn’t include questions, and the one with questions, which are the important ones, are neglected. Damn!

I’m proposing to switch to other products but haven’t been able to find one. Beside this is a very tight project so we must be carefull in taking such a strategic decisions… huh, it’s actually a business opportunities, I really want to take it, but my position as the consultant makes me unable to take this chance… huh.

Aslm wrwb,

Hi blog…
It’s already a week since I joined Sun. There’s some interesting things happens in this past week. The first day is kinda cool. Most of the people shows really warm welcome, and I liked the atmosphere right away. I also like the job desc, it’s sooo me :p And also there’s a pingpong table, and I played too! It’s fun, and everybody seemed to enjoy playing pingpong afterwork. I think I’m gonna be a frequent player here :)

What’s bad about the office is that this building lacks of Musholla. I watch most of the people Sholat individually in a corner of stairway or in a cubical. I hate this. There’s a Musholla in the basement, but the entrance is from outside the building, so it means people have to actually leave the building to go the musholla. It means, wearing shoes, and going thru the security checks. It sucks, but I think I just gonna have to get used to it.

There’s this guy named Louis, he’s from ee’97 ITB. It’s said that he held ‘the youngest employees’ title for three years since he joined Sun. And also he’s said to be smart and very helpful. But now, I’ve taken the title as the youngest employee, but I joined Sun at an age older a year from he was. And we’re in different divisions, so no comparison can be made valid. The other co-worker range from class 88-93, I don’t know about the bosses and the girls in administrations, but I think none is near my age, except the front office girl. But, it’s okay, most of them are cute anyway >:)

I’ve already been working with partners from two companies, for one project. It’s fun cause I love meeting new people, making new friends. As I said, I love the job desc. Anyway, I still maintain contact with my previous team partner, about dreaming to be our own boss :) And there’s more dreams and chances found here :)

Good luck to us all!
